Pearl Star Earrings Made with Naturally Star-Shaped Pearls
Pearl star earrings are easy to make, but finding pearls that naturally grow into a beautiful five-pointed star is another story.
Raffie personally hand-picked each star pearl in this pair in Zhuji, the world’s largest freshwater pearl production hub. These pearls are naturally star-shaped and non-cut. Their shape comes from the way the pearl grows, not from cutting a round pearl into a star.
Growing star-shaped pearls takes a delicate balance. If the harvest is too early, the nacre layer may be too thin and the luster too weak. If they grow for too long, their shape becomes harder to control and can easily turn irregular.
That is why we need to screen roughly 30 pearls to find just one suitable for a simple design like this. Their natural shape and luminous surface need no extra decoration.
A Simple Design, Letting the Pearl Shine
We use sparkling zircon-set stainless steel posts to pair with these pearls. Each post is finely polished for a bright, reflective finish that looks more refined than ordinary stainless steel jewelry.
Choose silver or gold to match your style. The silver version is permanently waterproof and resistant to fading, and the gold version which uses PVD vacuum gold plating can remain waterproof and fade-resistant for at least 1–2 years with regular wear.
The result is a pair of star shaped pearl earrings that feels playful without looking overly cute—and distinctive without being complicated.
