This pearl star bracelet (product code raffiepearls20) features genuine freshwater pearls, including naturally colored pearl stars and near-round pearls. You can choose between pink pearl stars or silver pearl stars, both with natural luster and personality.

Star-shaped pearls are cultured by inserting a five-pointed nucleus into the mollusk. Over 2–3 years, the mollusk coats this core with nacre, forming the final star pearl. The chain is made of hand-polished 304 stainless steel, with a white-gold-like finish. It’s waterproof, won’t tarnish, and safe for sensitive skin. While the bracelet stays securely fastened when worn, we’ve included a safety chain as extra protection since the magnetic clasp might occasionally stick to metal objects like car doors. Please note that the magnetic clasp should be opened by sliding, not pulling. The magnetic force is strong, and pulling it open may cause the jump rings connecting the clasp and bracelet to loosen or open.

Is stainless steel jewelry magnetic?

304 stainless steel and 316L surgical steel are both types of austenitic stainless steel. In its natural (annealed) state, it’s non-magnetic. However, cold processing—such as cutting, bending, or stamping—can transform parts of the structure into martensite, resulting in weak magnetism.

For example:

• The same batch of 304 stainless steel might be non-magnetic when made into round chains, but magnetic at corners when processed into square chains.

• The more the deforming, the stronger the magnetic response becomes.

• Heat treatment can restore its non-magnetic state.

We tested our stainless steel jewelry using enhanced neodymium magnets (attracts 45g-metal clips easily):

• Can be attracted: Thin chains, individual clasps, and other small components (due to martensitic transformation caused by cold working).
• Cannot be attracted: Components over 4g in weight (their gravity exceeds the magnetic force).

These results confirm that 304 stainless steel shows weak magnetism when cold-worked. Magnetism varies by component and process. The results above are for reference only.

Common misconceptions clarified

• ❌ “All stainless steel is magnetic”: False. Austenitic stainless steels (304 and 316L) are naturally non-magnetic in most conditions.

• ❌ “If it’s magnetic, it’s low quality”: Also false. Any magnetism is due to processing methods. And that does not affect corrosion resistance or quality.
