This large pearl necklace features natural AA+ grade freshwater pearls in three size options:
7~8mm for effortless daily elegance
9~10mm for a refined statement
11~12mm for bold, luxurious sophistication
Each strand is hand-knotted with care, separating every pearl with a small, precise knot that enhances both strength and drape. While each pearl is unique, minor imperfections are nearly invisible when worn — adding to their authentic beauty. Explore our elegant Round/ Near Round Pearls Collection
The necklace measures 38cm, with a 6cm extender chain. You can wear it long, or clasp it between any two pearls to create a choker-style fit. Personalize your necklace with optional letter charms, each with an openable clasp that attaches anywhere on the strand.
The clasp, extender, and charms are made from hypoallergenic surgical steel, plated in 18k gold using PVD vacuum technology. These components are waterproof, tarnish-resistant, and polished to shine like real gold. You can choose from either a gold or silver tone. Nylon Beading Thread vs. Silk Beading Thread
For this classic design, I use Japanese-made nylon beading thread, known in the industry for its exceptional durability and strength. Many people assume that silk thread is always the best for pearl necklaces — but each type has its own strengths and weaknesses.
Silk thread is softer and more flexible, making it a great choice for expensive pearls (like those above $1,000) that require extra protection from abrasion—especially if the pearls are large but not overly heavy. However, silk can stretch and lose elasticity over time, which means you’ll need to restring the necklace every 1–2 years. That’s acceptable for high-end pieces, but less ideal for everyday wear.
In contrast, this Japanese nylon thread is exceptionally durable — even a sharp pair of scissors needs several snips to cut through it. I use a 0.3mm thickness, one of the thickest options available, making it extra durable. And although thicker, you don’t need to worry about bulky or loose knots. I use a refined knotting method to keep every knot tight, even, and minimal, so it never competes with the pearls. The result is a strand that lays smooth, drapes beautifully, and typically only needs restringing every 3 years.
Though these are handmade pieces, I always strive for a fine jewelry aesthetic over a rustic, handmade look. I hide the end knots as much as possible and aim for a seamless, polished finish near the clasp—more like a gold-set jewel than a visible knot.
